Auditions for OCCT Shows
& Workshops
How to Audition at OCCT:

·
Prepare 16 bars of a song. This can be any Broadway show tune or old standard song. A new popular song you hear on the radio isn't usually a good choice. You can bring sheet music for the song, or a tape or CD without vocals (like a Karaoke version).. A piano accompanist will be provided at auditions to play your sheet music for you. You MUST have a prepared song to audition.

· Wear comfortable clothes to move freely in, you will learn a simple dance.

· Be prepared to list date conflicts you might have with other school performance or sports groups. We expect honesty at auditions. Late additions to conflicts may result in dismissal from the production.

· Have a parent or guardian present to sign permission slips.

· At OCCT we have no problem with actors listing only the roles they will accept. We understand that kids are all busy and have other options for performance and activities. We do ask that if you do specify a role, and you are given that role, please accept the role. Changing your mind a few days after auditions is not fair to the other kids trying out for that part, or the director and staff who may have to reshuffle the whole cast or find a replacement.

· Rehearsals are Monday and Wednesday from 6 - 9 pm at Stanton Civic Center. Saturday rehearsals are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Stanton Youth Center at Beach and Chapman. Not all actors are called to every rehearsal. You accept the responsibility to check the web-site and be present and on time.

· Cast Fees are $175 for Regular Cast, ages 8-19 and $85 for Telegrammers. Telegrammers are children 5 and up years old who learn 2 dances and songs and perform them at each show and deliver telegrams to regular cast. It's a great introduction to OCCT.

· We are a parent run organization. No one other than the 3 directors receive a salary. Therefore, ALL parents must serve a minimum of 20 hours, 10 pre-show and 10 during the show.

· Our goal is to provide a safe, nurturing environment where young people develop their acting, singing and dance skills. With that goal if any child, parent or adult acts in what is perceived as other than responsible, respectable and dedicated manner they may be dismissed from the show.

· Call backs are by invitation only and you will be asked to read from prepared sides, dance and sing.

· Always check the hot line (714)502-2244 and the occt.org website.
